Hanoi, 29 January 2026 – According to the latest announcement from the V.League organizing committee, The Cong – Viettel FC will officially move their home venue from My Dinh Stadium to Hang Day Stadium starting from Round 13 of the V.League 1 2025/26 season.
Once again, My Dinh Stadium is bidding farewell to top-level football, at least for an indefinite period. This decision has left many fans emotional, as the national stadium—once a symbol of Vietnamese football—has become increasingly absent from major matches.
In Announcement No. 11 of LPBank V.League 1-2025/26, the organizers stated that the venue change was based on reports and proposals from The Cong – Viettel FC, and is consistent with tournament regulations as well as the existing competition schedule. Accordingly, all home matches of the army team from Round 13 onward will be played at Hang Day Stadium instead of My Dinh, as originally planned. In the final round of the season (Round 26), when all matches kick off simultaneously, The Cong – Viettel are responsible for registering another stadium that fully meets regulatory standards as their home venue.
The organizing committee also requested The Cong – Viettel and relevant departments to proactively update information and coordinate implementation to ensure matches proceed smoothly and according to plan at the new venue. For fans, this means they will have to continue waiting to return to My Dinh to watch football, as the stadium is being used less and less for domestic competitions.
In reality, this is not the first time The Cong – Viettel have left My Dinh. During the 2024/25 season, the club had already moved home matches to Hang Day in Rounds 20, 21, and 24. At that time, the reason was that My Dinh was being used for multiple non-football events, causing scheduling conflicts. In addition, the poor quality of the pitch raised concerns about player injuries. Following feedback from clubs and experts, the organizers agreed to allow The Cong – Viettel to play at Hang Day to protect professional standards.
Not only at club level, the Vietnam national team has also temporarily moved away from My Dinh. Previously, the Vietnam Football Federation selected Thien Truong Stadium as the venue for the Asian Cup qualifier between Vietnam and Malaysia in March. Fans may have to wait a long time before seeing top-level football return to My Dinh.
