U23 Vietnam depart for Xi’an, ready to face U23 China, U23 Thailand & U23 DPR Korea

Hanoi, 22 March 2026 – On the afternoon of March 22, the U23 Vietnam team, consisting of 34 members including 25 players, officially departed for China to participate in the CFA Team China – Xi’an International Tournament 2026 under the leadership of coach Dinh Hong Vinh.

This training camp features a well-balanced squad, combining players who have already demonstrated their abilities at youth national team levels with a number of promising new faces. The coaching staff continues to emphasize a clear rejuvenation strategy, with the core group made up of players born between 2005 and 2007. This direction aligns closely with the Vietnam Football Federation’s long-term plan to build a strong next-generation squad for the senior national team, while also preparing for major competitions in 2026, especially the Asian Games (ASIAD 20) scheduled for September.

According to the travel itinerary, U23 Vietnam will fly from Hanoi to Guangzhou before taking a connecting flight to Xi’an later the same day. The team is expected to arrive in Xi’an early on March 23 (local time). Immediately after arrival, the squad will settle into their accommodation and begin light training sessions to adapt quickly to local weather conditions, time zone differences, and pitch surfaces.

The CFA Team China – Xi’an 2026 tournament is considered an important opportunity for the coaching staff to assess player performance, test tactical systems, and build cohesion within the squad. Facing quality opponents will also help the young Vietnamese players gain valuable international experience.

According to the match schedule, U23 Vietnam will face U23 DPR Korea on March 25, take on U23 Thailand on March 28, and conclude the tournament against the host team U23 China on March 31. These fixtures are expected to provide a solid test for the team as they continue their development journey toward future continental competitions.
