Hanoi, 26 March 2026 – Due to the ongoing security situation in the Middle East, the Lebanon Football Association (LFA) has announced the suspension of all domestic football activities until the end of April 2026. As a result, the Lebanon national team will be unable to prepare for their final qualifying match against Yemen, originally scheduled for March 31 in Qatar. The match is now expected to be delayed until June.
With this fixture unable to take place as planned, the AFC has officially decided to postpone the Asian Cup 2027 draw.
Initially, the draw ceremony was set for April 11 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, after careful consideration, the AFC opted to delay the event to ensure full participation from all stakeholders without disruption.
The AFC expressed its appreciation to the Local Organizing Committee of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 for their thorough preparations, while also thanking member associations, fans, and stakeholders for their understanding and continued cooperation.
New details regarding the rescheduled draw will be announced in due course.
In Group B, Lebanon and Yemen are currently competing closely for qualification, with Lebanon leading on 13 points and Yemen second with 11 points, while Brunei and Bhutan have already been eliminated.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team, under coach Kim Sang Sik, have already secured qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup finals with 15 points from five matches. They will now have to wait longer to find out their group-stage opponents in the continental tournament.
