Le Thi Mong Tuyen Earns Spot at Paris 2024 Olympics for Vietnamese Sports in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Event
At the 2024 Asian Shooting Championship, which also serves as the Asian qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Vietnamese athlete Le Thi Mong Tuyen finished in the top 8 of the qualifiers and fiercely competed with two athletes from Singapore and Iran for two Olympic spots.
These athletes, who made it to the finals but had not yet secured their Paris 2024 Olympic spots, saw the Singaporean athlete eliminated early, paving the way for Le Thi Mong Tuyen and the Iranian athlete to officially earn their places at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Expressing her joy and pride at securing an Olympic berth, Le Thi Mong Tuyen thanked her coaches and training team for their support in achieving her goal.
Evaluating Tuyen’s performance, Nguyen Thi Nhung, former coach of the Vietnamese shooting team, noted her quality and well-rounded training, as well as her stable competition mentality.
Regarding Vietnam’s shooting prospects at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Nhung believes that Vietnamese shooters have a fair chance of competing for medals. However, further investment in training for technical and psychological aspects at high-level competitions is needed.
As of now, Vietnamese sports have secured four official spots at the Paris 2024 Olympics: Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Trinh Thu Vinh, and Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting).
