Secret Plan of Vietnam to face Japan, aiming to advance deep in Asian Cup 2023

Center-back Bui Hoang Viet Anh reveals that coach Philippe Troussier has shared extensive information about the Japan National Team with the entire squad, affirming Vietnam National Team’s determination to go as far as possible in Asian Cup 2023. Vietnam National Team will kick off their Asian Cup 2023 campaign against Japan National Team at 18:30 on January 14th. This also marks a reunion for coach Philippe Troussier with his former team, having led Japan National Team from 1998 to 2002.

Center-back Bui Hoang Viet Anh disclosed that coach Philippe Troussier has provided the Vietnam National Team with a wealth of useful information about Japan National Team. Consequently, the whole team is confident heading into their opening match at Asian Cup 2023.

“Coach Philippe Troussier is very knowledgeable about Japanese football and has shared with us a lot of information about the Japan National Team. I think, as players like us, we don’t often get the chance to play against a strong opponent like Japan. Therefore, the whole team is very excited and looking forward to it. We will give our all in this match,” shared Bui Hoang Viet Anh.

After the opening match against Japan National Team, Vietnam National Team will continue to face Indonesia National Team at 21:30 on January 19th and Iraq National Team at 18:30 on January 24th. This is considered a tough group for coach Philippe Troussier and his team, especially as the Vietnam National Team is currently dealing with a spate of injuries.

Nevertheless, Bui Hoang Viet Anh still expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and capabilities: “Vietnam National Team comes to Asian Cup 2023 not just for participation. Our goal is to try our best to go as far as possible. Personally, I believe, when given the chance to play, we must give our utmost. The aim is for all of us to play well together and bring high achievements for the team.”
