In the opening match of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2024, the Vietnamese Futsal team was held to a 1-1 draw by Myanmar. Facing a team considered weaker in the Southeast Asian region, Vietnam quickly took control, launching numerous shots at goal. However, most attempts were either off target or superbly saved by Myanmar’s goalkeeper, leaving the first half scoreless.
The dominance continued into the second half, and Vietnam finally broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. Newcomer Đào Minh Quảng skillfully managed the ball before turning and firing it past the Myanmar goalkeeper, igniting hopes for a Vietnamese victory. However, the lead was short-lived, as Myanmar responded with a goal of their own in the 29th minute. Wai Zin Oo delivered a crucial pass to Ko Ko Lwin, who succeeded in beating Vietnamese goalkeeper Hồ Văn Ý, leveling the score.
Despite a spirited effort in the remaining minutes, Vietnam was unable to secure a second goal, and the match concluded at a 1-1 draw. This result puts pressure on Vietnam as they prepare for their next match against China on April 19 at 2 PM, where they will seek to secure a much-needed victory to enhance their position in the tournament standings.
The draw is a reminder of the unpredictable nature of futsal and sets the stage for what promises to be an intensely competitive group stage at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2024.
