The National Women’s Football Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup 2024 kicked off on the afternoon of May 1st at Ba Ria Stadium (Ba Ria City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province).
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Tran Anh Tu – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF); Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – Secretary General of VFF; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Deputy Secretary General of VFF, Head of the Organizing Committee; and Mr. Tran Anh Minh – General Director of Thai Son Bac Electrical Equipment Trading Co., Ltd., the main sponsor of the tournament. Representatives from Dong Luc JSC, the official ball sponsor of the tournament, were also present.

Following the opening ceremony, a match between Son La and Ho Chi Minh City I teams took place. The first leg of the National Women’s Football Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup 2024 is scheduled from May 1st to June 1st at various stadiums: Ba Ria, Long Tam, and Tan Hung in Ba Ria City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.
Two strong contenders for the championship – Ho Chi Minh City I and Thai Nguyen T&T – both secured victories in their opening matches this afternoon in Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
Despite losing three key players, Kim Thanh, Bich Thuy, and Tran Thi Thu, Ho Chi Minh City I still held a significant advantage over their opponent from Son La.
Boasting a superior squad, coach Doan Thi Kim Chi instructed the Ho Chi Minh City I players to maintain ball possession and control the game. Despite being constantly attacked, Son La’s defense held strong in the first 45 minutes, causing some frustration for their stronger opponents.
In the second half, Ho Chi Minh City I increased their offensive speed and broke the deadlock in the 70th minute with a header by Kim Yen. Ten minutes later, Tuyet Ngan scored the second goal, securing a 2-0 win for Ho Chi Minh City I with two consecutive shots.
In another match, Thai Nguyen T&T fielded almost their strongest lineup. Newcomers like Kim Thanh and Bich Thuy started, along with My Anh and Thuy Nga, helping coach Doan Viet Trieu’s team dominate Ho Chi Minh City II. Bich Thuy proved to be a valuable acquisition, scoring the opening goal in the 4th minute.
