AFF conducted the draw for the group stage of the Southeast Asian Champions League 2024/2025 on May 9th. The competition will feature 14 clubs, including 10 that will enter directly into the group stage and 4 that will have to play in the play-offs. Vietnam’s representatives in this tournament are CAHN FC and Thanh Hoa.
The 10 teams entering directly into the group stage are CAHN FC, Thanh Hoa, Kaya FC Iloilo (Philippines), Lion City Sailor FC (Singapore), Buriram United, BG Pathum United (Thailand), PSM Makassar, Borneo Samarinda (Indonesia), Kuala Lumpur City, and Terengganu (Malaysia). The four teams participating in the play-offs are Shan United FC (Myanmar), Svay Rieng FC (Cambodia), Young Elephant FC (Laos), and Kasuka FC (Brunei).
The draw results placed Thanh Hoa in Group A along with two play-off winners, PSM Makassar, Terengganu, and BG Pathum United.
Meanwhile, CAHN FC finds itself in Group B alongside Borneo Samarinda, Lion City Sailor FC, Kaya FC Iloilo, Buriram United, and Kuala Lumpur City.
Teams will compete in a single round-robin format during the group stage (5 matches), with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals, followed by the finals. Both the semi-finals and the final will be played on a home-and-away basis, similar to the AFF Cup format for national teams.
The Southeast Asian Champions League 2024/2025 is scheduled to run from July 17, 2024, to May 21, 2025.
