U19 Vietnam participates in a friendly tournament in China

Vietnam U19 national football team has accepted an invitation from the China Football Association to participate in the 2024 U19 International Football Tournament. The tournament will take place in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, China, and promises to be a valuable opportunity for the young Vietnamese squad to gain experience and prepare for future competitions.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam U19 team will face the host nation, China U19, in their opening match on June 4. Following this, they will play against South Korea U19 on June 7 and Uzbekistan U19 on June 10. These formidable opponents are expected to provide a significant challenge, allowing head coach Hua Hien Vinh and his players to test their skills and strategies in a competitive environment. This exposure will be crucial for their preparation for the 2024 U19 Southeast Asian Championship and the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Currently, the Vietnam U19 team is training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. On the morning of May 17, the players underwent a fitness test as part of their rigorous training regimen. Head coach Hua Hien Vinh has selected 30 players for this training camp, many of whom have progressed from the Vietnam U17 team that competed in the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup in Thailand in June 2023 and the U18 Seoul Eou Cup in South Korea in October 2023.

The squad also includes several players who have participated in training programs with J-League clubs in Japan, thanks to a collaboration between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Japan Football Association. Notable among these are defender Nguyen Quoc Khanh, who trained with Jubilo Iwata FC, Dang Thanh Binh, who trained with Yokohama FC, and midfielder Pham Nguyen Quoc Trung, who trained with Mito Hollyhock.

However, the current roster does not feature all the top U19 talents, as some players are still committed to their domestic clubs’ ongoing competitions. Despite this, the team is optimistic and focused on making a strong showing in China.

The Vietnam U19 team, led by head coach Hua Hien Vinh, will depart for China on June 2 to participate in the tournament organized by the China Football Association. This competition is expected to provide invaluable experience and exposure, helping the team to build momentum and confidence for upcoming regional and continental challenges.
