Coach Tran Tien Dai reflects on Hanoi Police FC defeat to Binh Duong

Following a heavy 1-4 loss to Binh Duong, Tran Tien Dai, the head coach of Hanoi Police FC, addressed the media, acknowledging the tough lesson learned from the match. The defeat on May 17 highlighted significant challenges for the team, particularly in the second half.

Coach Dai opened the press conference by stating, “We received a valuable lesson from Binh Duong. Hanoi Police faced many difficulties, especially in the second half after falling behind.”

Before the match, Hanoi Police FC was determined to secure a positive result to honor former head coach Kiatisak, who abruptly parted ways with the team before round 19. Despite their efforts, Hanoi Police FC failed to meet this goal. “We tried our best. With this loss, of course, Zico (Kiatisak) will not be happy. We have let Zico down,” Coach Dai expressed.

Commenting on the error by goalkeeper Nguyen Filip that led to the first goal, Coach Dai said, “That’s football; mistakes happen. If you make many mistakes, you will pay the price. I believe concentration is very important for a goalkeeper. That situation was not too difficult for Filip. I am confident Nguyen Filip will bounce back quickly.”

Coach Dai emphasized the importance of moving past the defeat to focus on upcoming matches. Regarding rumors that Mano Polking might take over as head coach, he remarked, “Finding a coach is up to the club’s management, and an announcement will be made soon. The team needs a high-caliber coach to steer us forward.”

When asked about the impact of frequently changing coaches on Hanoi Police FC’s performance, Coach Dai acknowledged the disruptions it caused. “Of course, it affects the team a lot. Each coach needs time to train and impart their philosophy and playing style. However, changing coaches is sometimes unavoidable in professional football. If goals are not met, replacing coaches or players is normal. A big team with high aspirations must make changes if targets are not achieved.”

With the loss to Binh Duong, Hanoi Police FC dropped to third place with 31 points. Their next match is against Ho Chi Minh City FC on May 21, where they hope to regain their footing and continue their campaign in the V-League.
