Vietnam women’s volleyball team strives to retain their spot in the world tournament

The Vietnam women’s volleyball team is gearing up to secure their spot in the prestigious FIVB Challenge Cup through a strong performance at the upcoming AVC Challenge Cup. Last year, the team made headlines by winning the AVC Challenge Cup, earning them a place in the global FIVB Challenge Cup. This year, they are determined to replicate that success as they prepare for the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup.

The 2024 AVC Challenge Cup will take place in the Philippines from May 22 to May 29. Under the guidance of head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the Vietnam women’s volleyball team will depart for the competition on May 20. The team has registered 14 players for the tournament.

The squad includes the country’s top volleyball talent: Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Tran Tu Linh, Dinh Thi Tra Giang, Le Thanh Thuy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Nguyen Thi Tra My, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Nguyen Thi Trinh, and Pham Thi Hien.

Despite middle blocker Dinh Thi Tra Giang not participating in the VTV9-Binh Dien International Women’s Volleyball Cup 2024, the remaining 13 players have been competing in Dak Lak over the past few days. Their participation in this local tournament has helped maintain their form and readiness for the upcoming international challenge.

The Vietnam women’s volleyball team will compete in Group B at the AVC Challenge Cup 2024, facing off against Kazakhstan, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, and Singapore. Their first match is scheduled for May 22 against Kazakhstan, a crucial game that will set the tone for their tournament campaign.

The team’s preparation and competitive spirit reflect their commitment to defending their title and achieving another significant milestone on the international stage. By aiming to secure a spot in the FIVB Challenge Cup once again, the Vietnam women’s volleyball team continues to showcase their growing prowess and ambition in the sport.
