Hanoi FC closes in on the top spot after round 21

Hanoi FC has temporarily moved up to second place in the Night Wolf V.League 1 – 2023/2024 standings following a commanding 3-0 victory over Quang Nam in the earliest match of Round 21.

Hanoi FC started the match assertively, taking the lead in the 17th minute with a goal from Tagueu. Quang Nam responded by creating several clear chances but failed to capitalize on them. This inefficiency was punished further in the 42nd minute when Hai Long set up Tuan Hai to score during a counter-attack, doubling Hanoi’s lead.

In the second half, Hanoi FC secured their victory with a third goal, courtesy of a finish from Van Quyet in the 62nd minute. This was Van Quyet’s fourth goal in the last three matches. The victory marked Hanoi FC’s third consecutive win, propelling them to second place in the league standings.

Currently, Hanoi FC shares the same 33 points as Binh Duong but holds a better goal difference, placing them ahead. They are six points behind league leaders Nam Dinh. However, Hanoi FC has played 21 matches, while their rivals have yet to play in this round. Tomorrow, May 26, Binh Duong will visit SLNA at 5:00 PM, and Nam Dinh will face Thanh Hoa at 6:00 PM.

On the other hand, Quang Nam is positioned tenth in the standings with 26 points, just four points above the relegation play-off spot held by SLNA.

Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem of Hanoi FC expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, highlighting their defensive solidity and clinical finishing. “Our players executed the game plan effectively, and this win gives us crucial momentum as we approach the final stages of the season,” Nghiem stated.

For Quang Nam, the defeat highlighted areas needing improvement, particularly in finishing their chances. Coach Vo Duy Ninh acknowledged the need for sharper offensive play and defensive stability to avoid further setbacks. “We created opportunities but failed to convert them, and against a team like Hanoi, such lapses are costly. We must regroup and focus on the upcoming matches,” Ninh commented.

As the V-League 2023/2024 season progresses, Hanoi FC will aim to maintain their form and challenge for the title. Their recent run of victories has revitalized their campaign, but consistency will be key in the remaining matches. Meanwhile, Quang Nam will need to address their shortcomings and gather points to ensure safety from relegation.

The upcoming fixtures promise intense competition as teams vie for crucial points in the league table. Fans eagerly await the next round of matches to see how the standings will shift and which teams will rise to the occasion.
