Overseas players continue to get opportunities at U17 national championship 2024

Overseas Vietnamese players will continue to have the opportunity to play for youth clubs at the U17 National Championship Finals 2024.

On June 25, 2024, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the main sponsor and conducted the draw for the U17 National Championship Finals 2024. The U17 National Championship is part of the annual national competition system organized by the VFF. This tournament aims to provide young players with training and competitive experience, helping clubs develop future talent in line with modern football development models and international competition systems of FIFA and AFC.

Thai Son Nam continues to sponsor the National U17 Championship.

Building on the success of the 2023 season, Thai Son Nam Group continues its partnership with the U17 National Championship as the main sponsor for this year.

Teams and Tournament Structure

The final round of the U17 National Championship will feature 12 teams: Hanoi FC, PVF, The Cong Viettel, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA), Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL), Ba Ria Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City (TP.HCM), Phu Dong, Dong Thap, and Tay Ninh.

The champion will receive a prize of 100 million VND, the runner-up will receive 80 million VND, and the two third-placed teams will each receive 50 million VND.

Highlights and Regulations

A notable aspect of this year’s tournament is that each team is allowed to register one overseas Vietnamese player who does not yet have Vietnamese citizenship. This provision gives clubs additional options for personnel. The players currently representing U16 Vietnam at the U16 Southeast Asian Championship are expected to be the key players for the teams in this tournament.

The collaboration with Thai Son Nam Group, combined with the efforts of the VFF and the preparations by the participating teams, promises an exciting tournament. The U17 National Championship – Thai Son Nam Cup 2024 aims to showcase the young football talents of Vietnam and provide a highly competitive platform for their development.
