Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) has a crucial advantage in the race to avoid the V-League relegation play-off, sitting two points ahead of Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) and playing their final match at home.
In the 25th round of the V-League 2023/2024, HAGL suffered a heavy 0-5 defeat against Hanoi Police FC. Despite this loss, coach Vu Tien Thanh’s team did not drop to the penultimate position, as SLNA and Ha Tinh drew 1-1 in their simultaneous match.
After 25 rounds, both Ha Tinh and HAGL have 29 points, while SLNA trails with 27 points. With the current standings, HAGL only needs a win in their final match of the V-League 2023/2024 against Hai Phong to secure their spot in the league without facing a play-off.
HAGL not only holds a points advantage over SLNA, but they also have the benefit of playing their last match at home at Pleiku Stadium. In contrast, SLNA faces the challenging task of playing away against The Cong Viettel.
Currently, Hai Phong is in a safe position and may rotate their squad. This gives HAGL a significant chance to secure points or even win against Chu Dinh Nghiem’s team.
Regarding Ha Tinh, coach Nguyen Thanh Cong’s team will host Thanh Hoa in their final match. Ha Tinh has a strong home record, having defeated several formidable teams at home. They are well-positioned to claim victory over Thanh Hoa, who have been struggling with poor form.
Overall, HAGL is in a favorable position to avoid the relegation play-off, given their points advantage and the benefit of playing at home in the decisive final round.
