FIFA Rankings July 2024: Vietnam national team unexpectedly rises

In the latest FIFA rankings released by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the Vietnamese national football team has moved up one spot to 115th in the world.

According to the FIFA rankings for July 2024, Vietnam’s total points remain unchanged at 1,168.02. Despite not gaining additional points, Vietnam ascended in the rankings due to other teams dropping points and positions.

In the Southeast Asian region, Thailand remains the top-ranked team but has fallen out of the top 100 globally. Meanwhile, Indonesia continues its upward trajectory, climbing one spot to 133rd, just ahead of Malaysia, which is ranked 134th.

In the broader Asian context, Japan, despite dropping one place globally, continues to lead the continent. Iran holds the second position, followed by South Korea in third. Other top-ranked Asian teams include Australia, Qatar, and Iraq.

At the top of the global rankings, Argentina maintains its number one spot following its triumph at the 2024 Copa America. Spain, after winning the UEFA Euro 2024, has made a significant jump, moving up five places to secure the third position in the world.

These movements in the FIFA rankings reflect the dynamic nature of international football, with teams continually vying for higher positions through their performances in various competitions. For Vietnam, this rise is a positive indicator of the team’s progress and potential on the international stage.
