FIFA has announced that the Hanoi Women’s Football Club will receive more than 125,000 USD (approximately 3 billion VND) as part of a benefit program for clubs with players participating in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
According to the official announcement, the sum awarded to the Hanoi Women’s Football Club is part of a FIFA initiative designed to support clubs that have players competing in the Women’s World Cup. This payment is allocated based on the number of players a club has sent to the tournament and the duration of their participation.
The Hanoi Women’s Football Club has eight players who were part of the Vietnam Women’s National Team at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. These players include goalkeeper Dao Thi Kieu Oanh, defenders Hoang Thi Loan, midfielders Tran Thi Hai Linh, Thai Thi Thao, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha, Ngan Thi Van Su, and forwards Pham Hai Yen and Vu Thi Hoa.
In total, FIFA is distributing 11.3 million USD among 1,041 clubs worldwide as part of this benefit program. The compensation each club receives is calculated based on the number of players involved and their time spent at the tournament.
The support extends not only to the current clubs but also to training academies that have contributed to the players’ development. The Hanoi Women’s Football Club is the top beneficiary among Vietnamese clubs and ranks ninth globally among all clubs receiving this support. On the Asian continent, Hanoi Women’s Football Club leads in the amount of compensation received from FIFA under this program.
Additionally, the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Football Club, with six players and two others who were developed through its youth academy, will receive nearly 100,000 USD. Other Vietnamese women’s clubs such as Ha Nam, Than KS Vietnam, and Thai Nguyen T&T are also among the beneficiaries receiving financial support from FIFA.
This financial recognition underscores the importance of club contributions to national teams and the global football community, highlighting the vital role of club infrastructure in developing talent that competes on the world stage. The funds provided by FIFA aim to support these clubs in furthering their player development programs and enhancing their overall operations.
