Vietnam Women’s Volleyball team achieves historic milestone but falls to Thailand in SEA V.League 2024 week 1 final

The Vietnam women’s volleyball team reached a historic milestone but ultimately fell to Thailand in the final match of Week 1 of the Southeast Asian Volleyball League (SEA V.League) 2024.

Under the guidance of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the Vietnam team delivered an impressive performance against the formidable Thai squad. For the first time in history, the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team won two sets against Thailand. However, the final result favored Thailand with a 3-2 victory.

The match, held at the Vinh Phuc Gymnasium, was intense and emotional. The Vietnamese players started with high determination and won the first two sets, creating a significant shock for the opponents. However, Thailand demonstrated their experience and resilience by coming back to win the next three sets, securing the overall victory.

 

Despite the loss, winning two sets against Thailand marked a significant milestone and progress for Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team. This is the first time in the history of their encounters that Vietnam managed to win multiple sets, showcasing the remarkable improvement of the players.

Week 1 of the SEA V.League 2024 concluded with Vietnam taking the runner-up position. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will have another opportunity to face Thailand in Week 2 of the tournament, which will take place in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

This defeat does not diminish the pride and confidence of the Vietnamese players. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet stated that the team would learn from this experience and work on improving their weaknesses to better prepare for Week 2.

The Vietnamese players have shown that they can compete and even create major upsets against strong teams in the region. The impressive performance in this match will undoubtedly be a significant motivation for the Vietnam women’s volleyball team in upcoming matches.
