Vietnam national team roster announced for September 2024 FIFA days and LPBank Cup 2024

On August 22, head coach Kim Sang Sik announced the 26-player roster for the Vietnam National Team’s upcoming training camp during the September 2024 FIFA Days. The team will participate in the LPBank Cup 2024, an international friendly tournament featuring two highly competitive guest teams: Russia and Thailand.

As the V-League is still in its preseason preparation phase, the roster for this training camp sees few changes compared to the most recent national team gathering. Veteran players continue to dominate the squad, with notable names such as Dang Van Lam, Filip Nguyen, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Nguyen Tuan Hai, Nguyen Tien Linh, and Nguyen Van Toan all being called up. Additionally, the team welcomes back key players like center-back Que Ngoc Hai, Nguyen Thanh Chung, and midfielder Nguyen Hai Long.

To ensure the U22 national team is also well-prepared for their international friendly tournament in China, several standout young players were not included in the senior team roster for this camp. Notable absences include Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Thai Son, Tran Van Son, and Nguyen Dinh Bac, who are focused on the U22 squad.

The Vietnam National Team is scheduled to begin their training on August 30 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad will have six days to prepare for their opening match against Russia in the LPBank Cup 2024.

This international friendly tournament, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), is highly anticipated by football fans and holds significant importance for the national team as they prepare for the 2024 ASEAN Championship later this year.

With the participation of two high-caliber guest teams—Russia, ranked 33rd in the world and a veteran of 11 World Cup appearances, and Thailand, a top contender in Southeast Asia—the tournament will provide an invaluable opportunity for Vietnam’s players to hone their skills and tactics. It also offers Vietnamese football fans the chance to witness some exciting and competitive matches on home soil.
