In the latest V-League transfer news, Hanoi FC has bolstered its squad for the 2024/2025 season by adding former U23 Vietnam national team defender Nguyen Xuan Kien to their roster.
Born in 2000, Nguyen Xuan Kien is a product of the The Cong Viettel youth academy. His early career included stints at Hue FC and Binh Dinh on loan. After helping Binh Dinh secure promotion to the V-League, he continued playing for them in the 2021 season. During his time there, the Phu Tho native made six appearances. Kien was called up to the U23 Vietnam national team at a young age, establishing himself as a key player on the left wing for a period.
In the most recent season, Kien appeared in six matches for The Cong Viettel, all of which were as a substitute. With Viettel aiming to provide more opportunities for their younger players and having recently signed Bui Van Duc, the former U23 Vietnam defender found himself among those expected to leave the club.
Hanoi FC’s decision to bring in Xuan Kien addresses a critical need, as the left-back position has been a challenging spot for the club to fill since the departure of Doan Van Hau. Kien’s experience and versatility are expected to provide depth and stability to Hanoi FC’s defense as they prepare for the upcoming V-League campaign.
By signing Nguyen Xuan Kien, Hanoi FC not only strengthens its backline but also adds a player with proven potential and experience on the international stage, ensuring that the team remains competitive in the league.
