Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam, known for his Vietnamese-Russian heritage, is eagerly anticipating the upcoming encounter between the Vietnam national team and the Russian national team at the LPBank Cup 2024. This match, scheduled to take place at My Dinh Stadium, holds special significance for Van Lam due to his unique background.
“If I get the chance to play in the upcoming match against the Russian national team, it would be an incredible feeling for me,” Van Lam expressed. “Right now, I am a professional football player and the main goalkeeper for the Vietnam national team. I know my parents will be thrilled to see their son participate in such a special match,” he added.
When asked about his knowledge of Russian football, Van Lam shared, “I have been living and training in Vietnam for quite a while now. The current generation of Russian players includes some new names that I am not very familiar with. Occasionally, I watch games from the Russian league, which is of a high standard and features some excellent players.”
The upcoming match against Russia will be a valuable opportunity for the Vietnam national team. Van Lam compared it to the match against South Korea last year, emphasizing the benefits of facing a strong opponent. “Playing against a strong team like Russia will provide us with a great opportunity to test ourselves and see where we stand in comparison to international football,” he noted.
