After the friendly match with the Russian national team, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad are continuing their preparation for the next game against Thailand. The Vietnam national football team will resume training at 10:00 AM on September 6.
Before the training session, Coach Kim Sang Sik had a chance encounter with a familiar face—Sasalak Haiprakhon, a Thai full-back who currently plays for Buriram United. Sasalak was once a player under Coach Kim’s leadership when he played on loan for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in South Korea in 2021. During that season, Kim was the head coach of the K-League club, which went on to win the 2021 K-League championship.
However, Sasalak’s stint in South Korea did not go as well as expected, as he only made two appearances for Jeonbuk. Despite this, the reunion between the two was amicable, highlighting the connections built during their time together.
Both the Vietnam and Thailand teams are staying at the same hotel, which has led to interactions between players and staff members from both sides. The upcoming clash between these two Southeast Asian rivals is generating much anticipation. While the match against Russia saw Vietnam struggle against a superior opponent, the game against Thailand is expected to be more evenly matched and competitive, given the historical rivalry and similar levels of quality between the two teams.
The Vietnam-Thailand rivalry is one of the most heated in the region, and fans are hoping for an exciting, closely contested match. This game is also expected to offer a more balanced encounter compared to the lopsided match against Russia, where Vietnam lost 0-3.
The friendly match between Vietnam and Thailand is set to kick off at 8:00 PM on September 10. This much-anticipated fixture promises to be a key moment in the LPBank Cup 2024, with both teams aiming to put on a strong performance for their fans.
