latest FIFA ranking: Vietnam national team has slipped slightly

On the afternoon of September 19, FIFA released the latest rankings for men’s national football teams worldwide. In this update, Vietnam has dropped one spot from 115th to 116th. The decline in ranking is largely attributed to the two recent losses suffered by the Vietnamese team against Russia and Thailand during the FIFA Days friendly matches earlier this month.

In contrast, Thailand and Indonesia both saw improvements in their rankings. Thailand has moved back into the top 100, climbing one spot from 101st to 100th. Indonesia, meanwhile, made an impressive jump, moving up four spots from 133rd to 129th in the world rankings.

As a result, Thailand has extended its lead over Vietnam to 16 places, while Indonesia is now just 13 places behind Vietnam. A notable mover in Southeast Asia is Brunei, which made the biggest leap, rising seven spots to 183rd.

At the top of the global rankings, Argentina, France, and Spain occupy the top three positions. In Asia, Japan, Iran, and South Korea continue to lead. The next FIFA rankings update is scheduled for October 24.
