Thanh Hoa FC travels to Malaysia, ready for their next challenge in the Shopee Cup 2024/2025

Thanh Hoa FC has officially traveled to Malaysia to prepare for their second group stage match against Terengganu in the ASEAN Club championship 2024-2025 (Shopee Cup) season. The reigning National Cup champions will face the Malaysian side on September 25, marking a crucial match in their pursuit of advancing in the tournament.

At 1 PM on September 22, the Thanh Hoa squad departed from Hanoi on flight MH753, bound for Kuala Lumpur. The three-hour journey to Kuala Lumpur International Airport is the first leg of their trip. From there, coach Velizar Popov and his players will take another journey to Terengganu, the host city for their second group stage match.

The match between Terengganu and Thanh Hoa is scheduled for 8 PM on September 25 (Vietnam time). With only two days to train and prepare, the team is expected to maximize their time to fine-tune tactics and recover physically. The match is critical for both teams as they aim to secure valuable points in the group stage.

In the opening round, Thanh Hoa impressed with a commanding 3-1 victory over Myanmar’s Shan United. The win gave the Vietnamese side a solid start to the tournament, positioning them well for advancement. Meanwhile, Terengganu suffered a close 2-3 defeat to Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, making this upcoming fixture vital for their chances of progressing.

On the domestic front, both teams come into the match with mixed results. Thanh Hoa claimed an important 1-0 victory against Hanoi Police FC in the V-League, showcasing their defensive resilience and ability to compete at a high level. Terengganu, meanwhile, secured a 1-1 draw in their away match against Sabah in the Malaysian Super League.

For Thanh Hoa, the return of key player Gustavo will be a significant boost to their lineup. Gustavo’s presence is expected to strengthen both their defensive and offensive capabilities. However, the team will continue to miss their star forward Rimario, who is sidelined for the rest of the season due to a serious injury.

This match will not only be a test of the team’s tactical abilities but also of their endurance, as they play away from home in challenging conditions. A victory over Terengganu would solidify Thanh Hoa’s position at the top of the group, moving them one step closer to advancing to the knockout stage of the ASEAN Champions League.
