The Singaporean football team Lion City Sailors is bringing a squad of foreign players worth over 100 billion VND to Vietnam for their match against Hanoi Police FC in the second round of the AFF club’s championship (Shopee Cup) 2024/2025.
On September 26, Lion City Sailors will play away at Hang Day Stadium against Hanoi Police FC in the second match of the group stage of the AFF club’s championship. To prepare for this crucial match, the Singaporean team is expected to bring their best lineup, with the exception of foreign player Rui Pires, who is suspended.
Lion City Sailors will field a strong group of five foreign players: Lennart Thy, Bart Ramselaar, Maxime Lestienne, Bailey Wright, and Toni Datković. According to Transfermarkt, these players are valued at a total of 4.4 million euros (over 100 billion VND). The most expensive player in the squad is midfielder Bart Ramselaar, valued at 1.8 million euros.
With such highly valued foreign players, Lion City Sailors clearly show their determination to win the match at Hang Day Stadium, especially after their 0-3 defeat against Borneo in their first group stage match.
Lion City Sailors have been performing well in recent matches. Notably, in their opening game of the AFF club’s championship, the Singaporean side pulled off an upset by defeating Zhejiang FC of China 2-0.
