Cong Phuong reveals the reason for choosing an unusual number at Binh Phuoc

Cong Phuong has shared the reason behind his decision to wear the number 70 jersey upon his return to Vietnam, now playing for Binh Phuoc FC.

After an unsuccessful stint with Yokohama FC in Japan, Cong Phuong decided to return home to continue his football career. Since the registration period for domestic players in the V-League had ended, he opted to join Binh Phuoc FC, competing in the Vietnamese First Division.

Recently, Cong Phuong surprised many by choosing the number 70 for the upcoming season. Explaining this decision, he said: “Before I officially joined Binh Phuoc, all the team members had already chosen their jersey numbers. I don’t place much importance on the number I wear. The number 70 is a random choice, but it’s my selection, and I believe it will bring me luck in this new chapter with my new team.”

“For me, the effort and dedication on the field are the most important things for any player. I cherish every moment I get to play because football is simply my life. I hope that this new season, my teammates will perform well to achieve the club’s goals. When that happens, the number on each player’s back will become even more meaningful and memorable in our lives.”

Cong Phuong previously wore the number 10 during his time with HAGL. Throughout his career playing abroad, he donned various numbers, including 23 (Incheon United), 27 (Sint Truiden), and 28 (Yokohama FC).

Cong Phuong is set to make his debut for Binh Phuoc in the First Division when they face Hoa Binh FC on October 26.
