Coach Kim Sang Sik has received some unfortunate news ahead of the friendly match against Nam Dinh FC, as center-back Bui Hoang Viet Anh is forced to train separately due to a recurring injury.
In the most recent training session for the Vietnamese national team, preparing for both the friendly against Nam Dinh FC and India, Viet Anh experienced a relapse of his injury and had to work individually with the medical staff. This development is a major concern for coach Kim, as Viet Anh is a key player in the national team’s defense and is also one of the vice-captains.
With the center-back now dealing with this recurring issue, there are significant doubts about his availability for both the friendly match against Nam Dinh on October 9 and the encounter with India on October 12.

Previously, during the September training camp, Viet Anh was absent from the squad due to injury. During that period, Vietnam played two friendlies against Russia and Thailand, both resulting in losses, with defensive lapses contributing to the defeats under Kim Sang Sik’s leadership.
Despite the concerns over Viet Anh’s fitness, there is some relief for the coaching staff, as key players Vu Van Thanh, Que Ngoc Hai, and Nguyen Tien Linh have returned to full training. Tien Linh is currently the top scorer in the V-League 2024/2025, while Van Thanh and Que Ngoc Hai have also been performing at a high level with their respective clubs.
These returning players are expected to provide a boost to the national team, which is seeking to improve its performance following the struggles in previous international fixtures. However, the potential absence of a defensive stalwart like Viet Anh remains a challenge that Coach Kim Sang Sik will need to address in the coming matches.
