On the evening of October 27, U17 Vietnam played to a 1-1 draw against U17 Yemen in a crucial match of the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers, securing a spot in the final tournament as one of the top second-placed teams.
In the post-match press conference, Coach Cristiano Roland expressed joy and pride in his team’s achievements. “Our main goal was to qualify, and today we accomplished that. I’m thrilled and very happy. All the players gave their best, understood their roles on the field, and managed to control the game well. Most importantly, U17 Vietnam has now reached the finals,” he shared.
Coach Roland emphasized the importance of daily preparation and training for the growth of young players: “Preparing for the future is something we must do every day, whether at the club level or with the national team. As a coach, I always strive to select the best players at any given moment. It’s crucial that the players show a desire to learn, adaptability, and a strong work ethic. Although unexpected changes happen daily, the key is how we adjust to be fully prepared.”
Roland also acknowledged U17 Myanmar’s victory over Kyrgyzstan, a favorable outcome that strengthened U17 Vietnam’s position in the qualifiers. This result helped the team secure second place in the group with a strong enough record to clinch a spot in the final tournament.
With this achievement, U17 Vietnam will compete in the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup, scheduled from April 3 to April 20, 2025. The group stage draw will take place on January 23, 2025, and both the team and fans are eagerly awaiting to discover their upcoming opponents.
This success marks a significant milestone for Coach Cristiano Roland and his team and represents a promising step for Vietnamese youth football as they aim to make their mark on the continental stage.
