Vietnam’s youth golf team shines at 2024 world championship in Thailand

Vietnam’s youth golf team achieved encouraging results at the 2024 World Championship in Hua Hin, Thailand, highlighted by Le Chuc An’s impressive victory. Representing Vietnam at the prestigious event were young golfers Le Chuc An, Nguyen Viet Gia Han, Nguyen Bao Phat, and Le Nhat Binh, who competed in their respective age and gender brackets. The championship concluded on November 3.

In the individual events, Le Chuc An led the way in the Girls’ Category A, finishing with a total score of +9 over four rounds to secure first place and the championship title in her category. Her consistent performance against top international peers demonstrated her skill and potential, setting a milestone for Vietnamese youth golf on the global stage.

In Girls’ Category B, Nguyen Viet Gia Han finished with a score of +18, placing her in the top five. While she did not claim the top spot, Gia Han’s performance, combined with Chuc An’s victory, earned the Vietnamese girls’ team a commendable runner-up position in the team standings, with Thailand taking the championship title in this category.

For the boys, Nguyen Bao Phat and Le Nhat Binh also achieved notable finishes. Bao Phat secured second place in Boys’ Category C, while Nhat Binh claimed third place in Boys’ Category D. Although the Vietnamese boys’ team finished just short of the top spot, they displayed solid performances, with Thailand winning the team championship for the boys as well.

This year’s World Championship gathered many skilled players under 18 from various countries, providing a competitive and experience-rich environment for all participants. The young Vietnamese golfers returned with valuable lessons and heightened experience, promising continued progress in future international events.
