Hoang Anh Gia Lai receives penalty before round 8 of V.League 1-24/25

In a setback before their Round 8 clash in the 2024/2025 V-League season, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) has been penalized with a fine and will be without a key player due to disciplinary issues. This comes despite the team’s recent success, as they defeated Hanoi Police FC 1-0 in Round 7. The victory secured HAGL’s position among the top teams in the league, boosting their point total to 12.

The Round 7 match, held at HAGL’s home ground, was a tense encounter, with both teams playing aggressively. HAGL’s midfield play, particularly by Thanh Son, proved essential in maintaining control over their opponents. However, the midfielder received a yellow card during the game, adding to previous cautions received earlier in the season. With three yellow cards accumulated, Thanh Son is now subject to a one-match suspension, leaving HAGL without his services in their upcoming match against Hong Linh Ha Tinh. His absence could impact the team’s midfield stability, as he has been an influential figure in their defensive and offensive transitions.

In addition to Thanh Son’s suspension, HAGL was also fined VND 2 million by the V-League’s disciplinary committee. This fine results from the club accumulating five yellow cards during the match against Hanoi Police FC, which includes cautions issued to players and possibly members of the coaching staff. According to V-League regulations, a team that accumulates five yellow cards in a single game is automatically fined VND 2 million. Each additional yellow card would incur an extra VND 1 million fine, though HAGL avoided further penalties in this instance.

This is HAGL’s first fine for yellow card accumulation in the current season, marking a point of concern for the club. The aggressive style seen in recent games, while effective, may need adjustment to avoid further disciplinary actions that could affect their squad depth in future matches.

Looking ahead, HAGL faces Hong Linh Ha Tinh in Round 8 on November 15, in what promises to be a challenging away game. Scheduled for 5:00 PM, this match is crucial for HAGL as they aim to maintain their position near the top of the standings. With Thanh Son sidelined, Coach Vu Tien Thanh may need to rethink his midfield strategy, potentially bringing in alternative players to fill the gap left by his suspension.

With the V-League season intensifying, HAGL will have to balance their competitive edge with maintaining discipline to avoid additional suspensions or fines that could disrupt their campaign.
