
On the afternoon of December 9, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted the draw for the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Vietnam has been placed in Group F alongside Malaysia, Nepal, and Laos.
The qualifying round will follow a double round-robin format, with teams competing in home-and-away matches. The top team from each of the six groups will secure a spot in the 2027 Asian Cup finals. They will join the 18 teams that have already qualified based on their performance in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Vietnam’s campaign in Group F will begin with their opening match against Laos on March 25, 2025, at home. This game is expected to be a significant opportunity for the Vietnamese team to establish momentum in their quest to secure a spot in the finals.
The remaining matches in Group F promise to be competitive, especially with regional rival Malaysia also in the group. Malaysia and Vietnam have a long-standing football rivalry, adding an extra layer of excitement to their upcoming encounters. Matches against Nepal and Laos will also require focus and preparation to ensure a strong performance.
Vietnam’s head coach has emphasized the importance of starting the campaign with a strong result at home. “Every match in this stage is crucial, and we are determined to perform at our best to achieve our goal of reaching the Asian Cup finals,” he stated.
