At the Paris Olympics 2024, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh left a strong impression, finishing fourth in the 10m air pistol event. Despite narrowly missing out on a medal, Thu Vinh’s performance was lauded as a remarkable display of composure and skill at the global stage.
In the 2024 Athlete of the Year voting, Trinh Thu Vinh emerged as the top pick, garnering 1,286 points. This recognition is a testament to her exceptional achievements, not only at the Olympics but also her gold medal victory at the Asian Championships.
Billiards player Tran Quyet Chien ranked second with 849 points, followed by volleyball player Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen with 696 points.
Coach of the Year 2024 was awarded to Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the head coach of the women’s volleyball team, who received 482 points. Other notable contenders included Nguyen Viet Hoa (billiards), Nguyen Dinh Hoang (women’s futsal), Luu Van Hoan (canoeing), and Tran Quoc Cuong (shooting).
The Women’s Volleyball Team was voted the 2024 Team of the Year, followed by the Women’s Futsal Team and the Women’s 4x400m Relay Team.
In the category of 2024 Outstanding Athletes with Disabilities, weightlifter Le Van Cong took the top spot, with runner-ups including Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (weightlifting), Le Tien Dat (swimming), Do Thanh Hai (swimming), and Doan Thu Huyen (chess).
For Coach of the Year for Athletes with Disabilities, the honor went to Le Quang Thai (weightlifting), followed by Nguyen Dang Vien (swimming) and Bui Quang Vu (chess).
This array of accolades highlights the excellence and dedication of Vietnamese athletes and coaches across various sports in 2024.
