
On the evening of January 9, Hanoi Police FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kaya FC in their third group-stage match of the 2024/2025 Southeast Asian Champions League. Facing an opponent positioned at the bottom of the group standings, the Vietnamese representatives aimed for all three points to maintain their top spot.
Despite fielding a lineup that was not their strongest, Hanoi Police FC dominated possession and displayed effective gameplay. The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Hanoi Police FC launched an attack down the left flank. Van Do capitalized on the opportunity inside the box with a precise finish to open the scoring.
Buoyed by the early goal, Hanoi Police FC continued to apply pressure on Kaya’s defense. In the 28th minute, a defensive lapse from the home side allowed Van Do to strike again, doubling the lead with his second goal of the night.
Kaya FC came out with renewed determination in the second half, pushing forward in search of a goal. Their persistence paid off in the 54th minute when Swainston found the back of the net, exploiting a momentary lapse in Hanoi Police FC’s defensive organization to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
The remainder of the match saw both teams exchanging attacks in an open and competitive affair, but neither could add to the scoreline. Hanoi Police FC held firm and secured the 2-1 victory, solidifying their position at the top of the group with a perfect nine points from three matches.
