Top 5 contenders for the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball revealed

The organizing committee for the Vietnam Golden Ball Awards 2024 has announced the top five players in each category with the highest votes. Familiar names like Tien Linh, Hoang Duc, Quang Hai, and Tuan Hai are in contention for the prestigious title, along with a surprise inclusion, central defender Thanh Chung.

Thanh Chung’s exceptional performances at the ASEAN Cup 2024, where he was a key figure for both Hanoi FC and the Vietnam national team, earned him a deserved spot among the top five male players of the year.

In the women’s category, three players from TPHCM I — Huynh Nhu, Thuy Trang, and Tuyet Ngan — will compete against two talents from Than KSVN, Truc Huong and Duong Thi Van, for the Golden Ball.

Nguyen Xuan Son (Rafaelson), having obtained his Vietnamese citizenship late in the year, will contest for the Best Foreign Player award alongside his Nam Dinh teammates Hendrio and Alan from Hanoi Police FC.

In the Best Young Player category, familiar rising stars such as Vi Hao, Thai Son, Dinh Bac, and Van Khang have been shortlisted for their stellar contributions.

The Vietnam Golden Ball Awards 2024 is scheduled for late February in Ho Chi Minh City, with the final list of nominees for each category as follows:
