
The officiating team for the Vietnam vs Laos match in the first round of the final qualifiers for the 2027 Asian Cup has been confirmed. The main referee and all three assistants will be from the UAE.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has appointed Yahya Ali Almulla as the main referee. According to Transfermarkt, Almulla has officiated 149 matches across competitions such as the UAE Pro League, AFC U20 Asian Cup, FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, AFC Champions League Two, and the AFC U23 Asian Cup finals.
Throughout his 149 matches, Almulla has issued:
623 yellow cards
18 indirect red cards (second yellow)
20 direct red cards
64 penalties
Almulla has previously refereed two matches at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam, including Malaysia U23’s 3-1 win over Laos U23 and Thailand U23’s 1-0 extra-time victory over Indonesia U23. Notably, in the latter match, he issued 11 yellow cards, 3 indirect red cards, and 1 direct red card.
Vietnam will kick off their 2027 Asian Cup final qualifying campaign against Laos on March 25. The match will take place at 19:30 (local time) at Go Dau Stadium in Binh Duong.
