With neither side winning against Thai Nguyen T&T on the afternoon of March 11, Phong Phu Ha Nam successfully defended their title at the VNL Women’s Football – Acecook Cup 2025.
The home team started confidently. They attacked and put strong pressure on Thai Nguyen T&T. However, in the first half, many chances were missed in front of the Hanoi T&T goal. Captain Luu Hoang Van couldn’t score in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Thai Nguyen T&T tried hard. They wanted a win to fight for second place—and even a big win could have made them champions. Still, Coach Doan Viet Trieu’s team struggled against the young stars of Phong Phu Ha Nam. The match ended 0-0. This result was enough for Phong Phu Ha Nam to become champions with 23 points.
In another match, Ho Chi Minh city and Ha Noi competed for a spot in the top three. The TPHCM girls entered the game determined to win 3 points to aim for a medal. Although they no longer had a chance to win the championship, a victory would secure them a top-three finish.
Ho Chi Minh city scored early. In the 8th minute, after a long pass from Thuy Linh, Dau Nguyen Quynh Anh took advantage of a gap in the opponent’s defense. Her unstoppable shot opened the scoring for TPHCM. For the rest of the game, TPHCM played better than Ha Noi and kept the ball well, even if they did not press very hard.
Facing this difficult situation, Ha Noi could not find a goal and lost 0-1. With this win, Ho Chi Minh city finished as runners-up with 21 points, and Thai Nguyen T&T ended the season in third place with 20 points. Besides winning the silver medal, the Ho Chi Minh city U19 women’s team also saw an individual success when Cam My was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper.
