Nguyen Thuy Linh exits early at All England 2025, eyes Swiss Open

Nguyen Thuy Linh had moments where she led her opponent but ultimately fell short, exiting in the first round of the women’s singles event at the All England Open 2025.

On March 11 (Vietnam time), Nguyen Thuy Linh played her opening match in the All England Open Badminton Championships 2025, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the BWF World Tour Super 1000 series. Her opponent was Akane Yamaguchi (Japan), the world No. 3 and third seed in this tournament.

In the first game, Thuy Linh showed no signs of backing down against her higher-ranked opponent. She played with sharp attacking strokes, accurately capitalizing on her opportunities and even led the score at times. However, in the final moments of the set, Yamaguchi surged ahead, securing a 21-19 victory.

In the second game, Thuy Linh scored the opening point, but her stamina began to fade, making it difficult for her to keep up with the Japanese star. Yamaguchi dominated and closed out the set 21-12, sealing a 2-0 win after 35 minutes of play and eliminating Thuy Linh from the tournament.

The All England Open is a BWF World Tour Super 1000 event, attracting the world’s top players. Last year, Nguyen Thuy Linh also exited in the first round of the women’s singles event.

Before competing in England, Thuy Linh had an impressive run at the German Open, reaching the final and winning the women’s singles silver medal.

Following her campaign at the All England Open, Nguyen Thuy Linh will travel to Switzerland to compete in the Swiss Open from March 18 to March 23.
