Binh Phuoc, April 13, 2025 – After 12 rounds of the 2024/2025 National First Division, the Golden Boot race has a new leader. Binh Phuoc’s Luu Tu Nhan has overtaken teammate Nguyen Cong Phuong, claiming the top spot with a standout performance in their latest match.
Tu Nhan netted twice in Binh Phuoc’s 3-1 victory over Khatoco Khanh Hoa on April 12, bringing his season tally to six goals. Remarkably, both strikes came from assists by Cong Phuong, whose vision kept Binh Phuoc’s attack firing. The result solidified their second-place standing with 23 points, chasing leaders Phu Dong Ninh Binh, who have 27.
Cong Phuong, now on four goals, drops to joint-second alongside Phu Dong Ninh Binh’s Nguyen Quoc Viet. A thigh injury forced Phuong to miss five rounds, from early February to mid-March, and he’s only recently returned, featuring off the bench in Binh Phuoc’s last two games—a draw and the Khanh Hoa win. Despite the setback, his playmaking, honed at clubs like Hoang Anh Gia Lai, remains vital for coach Nguyen Anh Duc’s side.
Phu Dong Ninh Binh, unbeaten this season, spreads their scoring across a wider net. Five players—Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Gia Lam, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Mach Ngoc Ha, and Dinh Thanh Binh—have three goals apiece, showcasing their collective strength. Binh Phuoc’s Le Thanh Binh also sits on three, matched by Khatoco Khanh Hoa’s Hoang Phuong, keeping the race tight with 10 rounds remaining until May 25.
Binh Phuoc’s reliance on Tu Nhan’s finishing and Cong Phuong’s creativity gives them an edge over Ninh Binh’s balanced approach. Tu Nhan, a rising star at 22, is on pace to challenge last season’s 12-goal benchmark. Meanwhile, Quoc Viet, a former U19 standout, and Cong Phuong—a veteran with The Cong Viettel experience—ensure the contest stays unpredictable. As Binh Phuoc eyes promotion, their attacking duo’s form could prove decisive in both the title and scoring races.
