Hung Yen, 1 July 2026 – Following the disappointment of relegation to V.League 2, PVF-CAND FC have wasted no time showing their determination to return to Vietnam’s top flight by securing the signing of Thaileon de Santana Santos. The Brazilian striker recently won the Golden Boot in the 2025/26 V.League 2 season while playing for Quy Nhon United.
Last season was a painful one for PVF-CAND, as the police-linked side suffered relegation after a heartbreaking play-off defeat to Bac Ninh FC. That setback has forced the club’s leadership to make major changes, and Thaileon’s arrival is a strong statement of intent ahead of the new campaign. Their target is clear: direct promotion back to the V.League.
Born in 2001, Thaileon de Santana Santos has the physical profile of a classic target man. Standing 1.84m tall and weighing 83kg, he is known for his strength, hold-up play, ability to link with teammates, and versatile finishing. Although he briefly trialed with Cong An Ha Noi FC in early 2025 without getting many opportunities to impress, he later found his best form at Quy Nhon United.
During the 2025/26 V.League 2 season, Thaileon became one of the most dangerous forwards in the competition. His consistent scoring form helped carry Quy Nhon United’s attack and eventually earned him the league’s top scorer award.
For PVF-CAND, signing a striker who has already proven himself in V.League 2 is a major boost. Thaileon is expected to solve the finishing issues that hurt the club last season and give them a reliable focal point in attack. With this early move in the transfer market, PVF-CAND have sent a clear warning to their rivals: they are coming back with serious ambition and a squad built to fight for promotion.
