Ha Tinh, May 3, 2025 – Becamex Binh Duong suffered a 3-1 defeat to Hong Linh Ha Tinh in Round 21 of the V.League 2024-2025 at Ha Tinh Stadium on May 3, despite a 5th-minute opener from Ha Duc Chinh. A 10-man disadvantage after Janclesio’s early red card and Nguyen Tien Linh’s late substitution couldn’t salvage the result, leaving Becamex Binh Duong 8th with 25 points.
Out of the title race, coach Nguyen Cong Manh rotated heavily, benching Nguyen Tien Linh and starting lesser-used players like Ha Duc Chinh, Nguyen Duy Khanh, Tran Tuyen Quang, and Nguyen Ngoc Chien. Hong Linh Ha Tinh, under Nguyen Thanh Cong, fielded a full-strength side, with Luong Xuan Truong anchoring midfield, captain Bui Trong Hoang leading, and foreign trio Geovane, Helerson, and Mbo Noel in attack, mirroring Hanoi Police FC’s depth.
Becamex Binh Duong struck early when Duy Khanh’s deft chip over Hong Linh Ha Tinh’s defense set up Duc Chinh’s lobbed finish for 1-0. However, disaster struck in the 11th minute: Janclesio elbowed Mbo during a corner, earning a straight red card after VAR review by referee Nguyen Trung Kien, leaving Becamex Binh Duong with 10 men. Hong Linh Ha Tinh capitalized in the 21st minute when Viktor Le’s clever pass led to Geovane’s run, forcing Ngoc Chien’s foul in the box. Geovane converted the penalty to level at 1-1, per V.League stats.
Hong Linh Ha Tinh dominated, with Xuan Truong’s passing and Trong Hoang’s leadership, akin to The Cong Viettel’s grit, overwhelming Becamex Binh Duong. Crossbar-rattling shots from Xuan Truong and Mbo preceded a 48th-minute own goal by Tran Minh Trong, who deflected Sy Hoang’s wicked cross into his net for 2-1. Trong Hoang sealed the 3-1 win in the 77th minute, sliding to tap in Viktor Le’s low cross, securing Hong Linh Ha Tinh’s top-four spot with 34 points.
Tien Linh, subbed on in the 70th minute, couldn’t spark a comeback, managing one off-target shot. Becamex Binh Duong’s third straight loss, watched by 6,000 fans, shifts focus to their National Cup semifinal against Nam Dinh FC. Cong Manh’s rotation, echoing Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s youth strategy, aims to refresh the squad, but defensive lapses, unlike Song Lam Nghe An’s solidity, cost them. Hong Linh Ha Tinh, buoyed by Trong Hoang’s 2024 AFF Cup form, face Ho Chi Minh City FC next, while Becamex Binh Duong host Hanoi FC, seeking to halt their slide.
