Hendrio joins Hanoi FC eyes Vietnamese citizenship

Hanoi, 13 May, 2025 – Hendrio Araújo da Silva (born May 16, 1994) has officially signed with Hanoi Police FC ahead of the 2025–2026 V-League season. The capital club confirmed at noon on May 13 that the Brazilian-born midfielder will be under contract through the end of the 2027–2028 campaign, marking a significant addition to their squad

Hendrio’s move follows his exclusion from Nam Dinh’s registration for the second phase of the 2024–2025 V-League, which led to the termination of his contract on March 31, 2025. Since that date, he had trained on trial with Hanoi Police FC, impressing the coaching staff with his technical skill and versatility in attacking midfield and on the wing.

This is not Hanoi Police FC’s first pursuit of Hendrio. In 2023, after departing Binh Dinh FC, the former Barcelona U16 graduate received an offer from the capital club but opted instead to join Nam Dinh—a decision influenced by the latter’s strong financial backing and ambitious project at the time. Now, two years later, Hanoi Police FC have secured his signature, demonstrating their continued interest and belief in his abilities.

At Nam Dinh, Hendrio made a profound impact, recording ten goals and thirteen assists en route to the 2023–2024 V-League title. His performances earned him widespread acclaim and sparked his decision to pursue Vietnamese citizenship. Having met the residency requirement of five consecutive years in Vietnam by 2026, he is poised to begin the naturalization process and adopt the name Nguyen Xuan Hen—his chosen Vietnamese name.

In his statement upon signing, Hendrio expressed gratitude for the opportunity: “I am thrilled to join Hanoi Police FC, a club with a rich history and passionate supporters. I look forward to contributing to the team’s success and continuing my personal journey here in Vietnam.”

Hanoi Police FC coach Pham Minh Duc welcomed Hendrio’s arrival, noting: “Hendrio brings creativity, experience, and a proven track record in our league. His ability to play in multiple attacking roles will give us tactical flexibility and depth.”

As the transfer window has closed, Hendrio will officially take the field for Hanoi Police FC at the start of the 2025–2026 season. Fans and pundits alike will watch closely to see how his integration bolsters the team’s midfield dynamism and attacking options. With a long-term contract secured and the promise of citizenship on the horizon, Hendrio Araújo da Silva’s next chapter in Vietnamese football looks set to be both significant and enduring.
