Hoang Duc: “Cong Phuong’s absence is a significant loss for the team.”

Hanoi, 3 June, 2025 – In the afternoon of June 3, at Vietnam youth football training center, midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc shared notable insights about striker Cong Phuong’s injury and the team’s preparation for the upcoming away match in Malaysia.

Compared to June 2, today’s training session of the Vietnam national team saw personnel changes due to striker Cong Phuong’s injury, prompting Coach Kim Sang-sik to call up Quoc Viet as his replacement.

The Hai Duong native player stated, “It’s been a while since Cong Phuong returned, so we were excited and welcomed him. Unfortunately, Phuong got injured. This is a significant loss for the team ahead of the match against Malaysia.”

Hoang Duc also provided noteworthy comments about Malaysia as opponents: “This time, the Malaysian national team has many good and quality players. It’s been a while since their last match, so I hope this game will be exciting. The team’s goals will be finalized in the coming days. This match against Malaysia is also very important.”

Personally, Hoang Duc has a history of facing the Malaysian national team, having scored goals in two matches against the team nicknamed “Harimau Malaya” in the AFF Cup 2020 and 2022, both contributing to decisive scores.

Regarding Cao Pendant Quang Vinh’s integration, Hoang Duc shared, “The whole team has supported Vinh in recent training sessions, and the head coach has instructed us to support each other more before important matches, enhancing team cohesion and communication.”

Vietnam national team will continue training until June 5, then travel to Malaysia on June 6 to prepare for their clash with the host team on June 10. Tomorrow, June 4, Coach Kim’s team will play a friendly match against U22 Vietnam.
