Jakarta, 4 June, 2025 – Nguyen Thuy Linh made an effort to secure a victory in her opening match at the 2025 Indonesia Open Badminton Tournament but was unsuccessful.
The 2025 Indonesia Open Badminton Tournament is a BWF World Tour Super 1000 event, making each match a crucial competition for every player.
On June 4 (Vietnam time), Nguyen Thuy Linh played her first women’s singles match against Natsuki Nidaira from Japan. The two players have different playing styles. Thuy Linh focused on short, tight shots near the net to force Nidaira into defensive play to avoid losing points. Meanwhile, Nidaira often surprised with powerful smashes down the sideline, causing Thuy Linh to lose her footing and struggle to defend.
In the first game, both players held their advantage when serving. At one point, Thuy Linh led, but the Japanese player managed to finish with a score of 23/21. In the second game, the race to score continued. Once again, Thuy Linh could not close out the game, losing 20/22.
In the end, after 51 minutes of play, Nguyen Thuy Linh lost 0-2 to Natsuki Nidaira. This defeat eliminated Thuy Linh in the first round, and she will return home soon. At the end of June, she will continue her international competition schedule with two tournaments in the United States and Canada. Thuy Linh has risen to 24th in the world rankings according to the BWF.
