Chau Ngoc Quang confident in Vietnam’s readiness ahead of Asian Cup qualifier against Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 8 June, 2025 – Vietnamese midfielder Chau Ngoc Quang has spoken candidly about the national team’s preparation as they gear up for a pivotal encounter against Malaysia in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Addressing questions about Malaysia’s naturalized players, Chau expressed respect but remained composed and focused. “Coach Kim Sang Sik and the entire team have thoroughly evaluated all of Malaysia’s naturalized players. Personally, I recognize they are quality players, so I always have to be ready,” said the 1996-born midfielder. His comments highlight not only the coaching staff’s careful tactical planning but also the team’s alertness and determination ahead of this crucial fixture.

Chau also took the opportunity to praise his new teammate, Cao Quang Vinh, who recently joined the squad. “Quang Vinh may be a newcomer, but through our time training and living together, I’ve found him to be cheerful, sociable, and quick to integrate with the team,” Chau noted, pointing to strong team chemistry as a key asset.

Regarding the overall spirit within the Vietnam squad, Chau emphasized their mental and physical readiness. “From the first day of training camp, everyone has been fully prepared. Right now, the whole team feels relaxed and confident, with the experience needed to face the upcoming match,” he said.

When asked about the intimidating atmosphere of Bukit Jalil Stadium—which can hold up to 80,000 fans—Quang acknowledged the potential pressure but expressed confidence in the team’s resilience. “Of course, playing in such a massive stadium is different from the smaller ones we’re more familiar with. It might be a bit of pressure, but it won’t affect the team,” he assured.

With his composed mindset and confidence, Chau Ngoc Quang’s remarks reflect the strong preparation and spirit within the Vietnam national team as they aim for victory in their crucial clash against Malaysia on June 10.
