Huge win over Laos, Vietnam U19 women’s team advances to the semifinals of Southeast Asia Championship

Ho Chi Minh, 13 June, 2025 – On the afternoon of June 13, the U19 Vietnam women’s national team delivered a commanding performance with an 8-0 victory over U19 Laos in the final group-stage match of the 2025 AFF U19 Women’s Championship, securing their place in the semifinals with an unbeaten record.

Vietnam wasted no time asserting their dominance. In just the 4th minute, Le Thi Trang opened the scoring with a composed finish following an assist from Thuc Nghi. That early goal set the tone for a first half completely controlled by coach Okiyama Masahiko’s side.

The Vietnamese attack surged forward relentlessly, adding five more goals before halftime. The scorers included Le Thi Trang (again), Thu Trang, Thuc Nghi, and Van Lap, who netted a brace. Their fluid passing and relentless pressing overwhelmed Laos, who struggled to maintain possession or contain Vietnam’s offensive rhythm.

After the break, Vietnam continued to press, rotating players to give attacking substitutes more opportunities. In the 48th minute, Hoa Trinh extended the lead to 7-0, calmly finishing after another assist from Le Thi Trang. The final blow came late in the game when Hoang Van executed a sharp run down the right flank and finished clinically to round out the score at 8-0.

With this result, U19 Vietnam conclude the group stage with a perfect record: three wins in three matches, topping the group in emphatic fashion. They now advance to the semifinals, where they will face U19 Indonesia—an opponent expected to offer greater resistance in the knockout round.

Coach Masahiko Okiyama will take confidence from his team’s depth and attacking prowess as they continue their quest for the 2025 AFF U19 Women’s Championship title.
