Vietnam women’s national team secures second victory during Japan training camp

Osaka, 13 June, 2025 – On the afternoon of June 13, the Vietnam women’s national football team claimed their second consecutive win during their training camp in Japan, overcoming Tezukayama Gakuin University’s women’s team with a 3-1 comeback victory.

For this friendly match, head coach Mai Duc Chung opted to test a younger lineup, featuring goalkeeper Khong Thi Hang, defenders Diem My, Hoang Thi Loan, Kin Yen, Tran Thi Duyen, and My Anh. The midfield was composed of Tuyet Dung, Nam Mi, Vu Thi Hoa, and Ngoc Minh Chuyen, while Tuyet Ngan led the frontline.

Facing a well-organized opponent with impressive physicality and technical skill, the Vietnamese players had to stay highly focused. In the 35th minute, the home side broke the deadlock, taking a 1-0 lead.

Coach Mai Duc Chung made a series of seven substitutions at halftime to shift the momentum. The changes proved effective quickly—just eight minutes into the second half, Huynh Nhu scored the equalizer following a well-executed team move. The veteran striker struck again 12 minutes later, completing her brace and giving Vietnam a 2-1 advantage.

Vietnam continued to dominate as the game progressed. In the 80th minute, Nguyen Thi Hoa found the back of the net to seal a 3-1 victory for the Vietnamese side.

This result marks the second win for Vietnam during their Japanese training tour, following a 3-2 victory over Iga Kunoichi Mie on June 11. According to the schedule, the national team will play one final friendly match on June 15 against Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences.

These matches are part of Vietnam’s preparations for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. The training camp offers a valuable opportunity for Coach Mai Duc Chung to test new talent and refine tactical plans ahead of official competition.
