Binh Phuoc, 28 June, 2025 – One day after missing a decisive penalty in the play-off match against Da Nang, which cost Binh Phuoc a spot in the V.League 2025/2026, striker Cong Phuong shared an emotional message on his verified Facebook page.
On the evening of June 27, Cong Phuong missed a penalty in the second half of the promotion play-off against Da Nang. Binh Phuoc ultimately lost 0-2, missing their chance to advance to the top-tier V.League next season. The missed penalty was a turning point in the match and a heartbreaking moment for the team and their fans.
The following day, the 29-year-old forward from Nghe An took to Facebook to express his feelings about the match and the season. “The 2024/2025 V.League 2 season has officially ended. For me personally, it was a meaningful journey with Binh Phuoc FC. We set our sights on promotion but couldn’t bring complete joy to all the hearts that have loved and trusted this club,” Phuong wrote.
Despite the painful loss, Cong Phuong remains determined to come back stronger. “From the place I stumbled, I will rise even stronger and more resilient to continue fighting for the dream that remains unfinished. See you again, as we continue to pursue the V.League dream for Binh Phuoc football,” he added.
Though his missed penalty in the play-off was disappointing, Cong Phuong had a standout season with Binh Phuoc. He was a key figure in the club’s campaign, consistently delivering important performances that helped secure crucial points. By the end of the 2024/2025 season, Cong Phuong scored 7 goals, finishing as the second-highest scorer in the league.
His message reflects both regret and determination, as he looks ahead with hope and commitment to helping Binh Phuoc achieve their V.League ambitions in the future.
