Hanoi, 26 August, 2025 – This afternoon, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially launched the commemorative book “25 Years of Professional Football Journey in Vietnam” at its headquarters in Hanoi. The publication is a significant milestone, capturing the proud and transformative history of professional football in the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Anh Tu, VFF Vice President, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF, and Deputy Head of the Editorial Steering Committee, emphasized the importance of the work:
“The book ‘25 Years of Professional Football Journey in Vietnam’ is a carefully compiled project, reflecting the intelligence and collective effort across more than two decades of the development of professional football in our country. Professional football has brought a new mindset of integration, modernity, and sustainability, shaping a distinct identity and affirming Vietnam’s position on the regional and continental stage. This book not only looks back at memorable milestones but also envisions the future. The path of professional football is the right one, but it requires greater determination and consistency. VFF hopes this book will inspire today’s and future generations, reminding players, coaches, managers, and fans of their roles and responsibilities in this common journey.”
Vietnamese professional football officially began in 2000, marking a turning point in the nation’s sporting history. Over the past 25 years, it has gone through hardships and challenges but also achieved glory and national pride.
The book serves as both a historical record and a living memoir, honoring the contributions of countless generations of players, coaches, clubs, managers, and fans who have built and nurtured the professional football system. It stands as a source of inspiration, encouraging the next generations to carry forward the dream of elevating Vietnamese football to new heights at the continental and global levels.
Nguyen Van Phu, VFF General Secretary and Head of the Content Committee, revealed that the project took one year to complete:
“This is a meaningful milestone in the development journey of Vietnamese football. The book is a comprehensive product, filled with content, images, and heartfelt dedication. It reflects the tireless efforts of the editorial team, the close direction of the Steering Committee, and the valuable contributions of historical witnesses who experienced the remarkable journey of Vietnamese football. Over 25 years, professional football in Vietnam has seen many ups and downs, but also major changes in management and competition organization. It has truly laid an essential foundation, contributing significantly to the progress of our national teams and affirming Vietnam’s position on the football map of Asia.”
The release of “25 Years of Professional Football Journey” marks not only a celebration of the past but also a call to build a stronger future, with the ambition of ensuring Vietnamese football continues to rise on the international stage.
