Hanoi, 8 September, 2025 – Vietnam U17 women’s national team is set to embark on a valuable two-week training camp in Germany, visiting Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen as part of the cooperation program between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the German Football Association (DFB).
Ahead of their departure on September 9, head coach Okiyama Masahiko confirmed the final list of 23 players who will take part in the overseas training program. This initiative is regarded as a key step in preparing young Vietnamese players for the demands of modern football while exposing them to one of the most advanced footballing environments in the world.
According to coach Okiyama, the trip to Germany is built around three main objectives:
-
Learning from elite German football through friendly matches and training sessions with top academies.
-
Experiencing a new cultural and sporting environment, including adapting to foreign climates and time zone differences that often accompany long international tours.
-
Developing well-rounded players who not only grow in skill and resilience but also actively engage in international exchanges, building friendships and knowledge with peers from other footballing backgrounds.

He emphasized that overseas training camps, particularly in Europe, play a vital role in shaping young talents:
“When players are still young and adaptable, trips like these provide priceless experiences. Training in Germany allows them to directly witness and absorb world-class football methods, which will help them grow significantly as national team players,” Okiyama said.
The program with Dortmund and Bremen is expected to include joint training sessions, workshops, and friendly matches against youth squads, giving Vietnamese players the chance to test themselves against strong opposition. For many of these young footballers, it will be the first time they have played in Europe, making the trip a milestone in their careers.
The camp also reflects VFF’s broader strategy of investing in youth football and strengthening international cooperation. By sending teams abroad, the federation aims to accelerate the development of Vietnamese football and provide players with experiences that cannot be replicated at home.
This trip follows a growing trend of Vietnamese youth teams gaining exposure to elite football environments worldwide. With Germany’s reputation for producing disciplined, technically sound, and physically strong players, the partnership with DFB is seen as an opportunity to raise the level of Vietnamese women’s football in the years ahead.
The Vietnam U17 women’s national team will return home at the end of September after completing their two-week program. The experience in Dortmund and Bremen is expected to serve as an important stepping stone in preparing this generation for future regional and continental competitions.
