Hanoi, 6 October 2025 – Vietnamese-Russian midfielder Nguyen Vadim has expressed his deep emotions on social media after receiving his first-ever call-up to the Vietnam U23 national football team.
The Vietnam U23 squad is currently holding a training camp alongside the senior national team during the October 2025 FIFA Days. This joint training session is part of a comprehensive preparation plan by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), focusing on two key upcoming objectives — the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup Finals.
Among the 23 players selected, three overseas Vietnamese players have caught the spotlight: Le Viktor, Tran Thanh Trung, and Nguyen Vadim. While Viktor has been a regular name in previous national youth camps and Thanh Trung makes a return after missing last month’s Asian Cup qualifiers, Vadim’s call-up is particularly special — it marks his debut with the national U23 setup.
The 20-year-old, who plays for Da Nang FC in the V.League 1, has already made a positive impression in domestic football. Known for his energy, skill, and tactical adaptability, Vadim is capable of operating effectively both on the wing and in central midfield. During his first training sessions with the squad, he displayed high determination and a strong work ethic.
Soon after the call-up was confirmed, Vadim shared a heartfelt message on his Facebook page that quickly attracted attention from fans:
“Some dreams aren’t meant to stay dreams — they’re meant to be lived. I’m proud to wear the Vietnamese colors.”
Born in 2005 in Russia to a Vietnamese father and Russian mother, Vadim stands 1.75 meters tall and is regarded as a promising talent for the future of Vietnamese football.
Commenting on the newcomer, assistant coach Dinh Hong Vinh expressed optimism about Vadim’s potential:
“We have high expectations for him. The coaching team has been in constant communication with head coach Kim Sang Sik to ensure we build the strongest possible squad. Vadim is one of the players who fits our long-term vision.”
Vadim’s inclusion symbolizes VFF’s ongoing commitment to integrating young talents and overseas Vietnamese players, strengthening the foundation for future international success.
