Coach Albadalejo shocked by dangerous tackle that injured Thanh Trung

Ninh Binh, 1 November 2025 – Following Ninh Binh’s 1-1 draw with Ho Chi Minh City FC in Round 9 of V.League 1 2025-2026, head coach Guillermo Albadalejo voiced strong frustration regarding the reckless challenge that left midfielder Tran Thanh Trung seriously injured, criticizing the referee’s decision not to issue a red card.

Coach Guillermo Albadalejo expressed deep concern and disappointment after Tran Thanh Trung, one of Ninh Binh’s promising young midfielders, suffered a severe leg injury during the team’s 1-1 draw against Ho Chi Minh City FC on November 1. The incident occurred in the first half when Thanh Trung was brought down inside the box by Tran Dinh Khuong, resulting in a penalty for the home side.

“Right now, I still don’t know the exact situation — we have to wait for the doctors to evaluate him,” coach Albadalejo told reporters in the post-match press conference. “But the opponent’s tackle was extremely dangerous. My player’s shin was cut open, and it might have even affected the bone. What shocked me most was that it wasn’t given as a red card. The referee didn’t even call a foul at first — it took a VAR review to award the penalty — and now my player is in the hospital. I really can’t understand it.”

The Spanish tactician reiterated his disbelief, emphasizing that it was not only the injury that troubled him but also the referee’s leniency. “We’re still waiting for the medical report, but what truly shocks me is that no card was shown for such a violent challenge. This needs to be mentioned because I find it extremely difficult to comprehend,” he added.

The unfortunate incident cut short what had been an impressive display from Thanh Trung, who earned his second consecutive start and was among Ninh Binh’s most dynamic players early in the match. Despite his early exit, Nguyen Hoang Duc successfully converted the resulting penalty, helping Ninh Binh maintain their unbeaten record in V.League 1 this season.

It is a major setback for the league leaders, who rely heavily on Thanh Trung’s creativity and pace in midfield. The club and fans alike are hoping for positive news from the hospital and a quick recovery for the No. 8, whose determination and spirit have become an inspiration within the Ninh Binh FC squad.
